Questions & Answers
Who can play?
- Anyone can play. If considering signing up a child, please keep in mind that this is a long event. If the child is too young, there may be difficulties. However, each child is different and we leave it up to you to decide. All minors must be accompanied by an adult and must have a consent form signed by their parent (this form will be sent to you upon request).
How do I sign up?
- Click on register. Fill out the form, pay the $20 entry fee and submit it at least 24 hours before the date of the race you are registering for. With your $20 registration fee comes $10 worth of coupons that can get you out of a "tough spot" in the race. These coupons will be presented to you on the day of the event.
How does the race/hunt work?
- Players are given clues, or instructions at each point in the race. Think of these as checkpoints or pit stops. Each clue will instruct players to go to a certain place and/or to perform a task. Sometimes there will be a choice between tasks. Once completed, players will receive the next clue. There are 2 different scavenger hunts built into the race. One is a standard scavenger hunt where items must be found. The other is a photo scavenger hunt where pictures must be taken of items.
How is the race/hunt scored?
- You earn points by finishing the race fast and by finding scavenger hunt items. The player/team with the most points wins the prize. In the event of a tie, the prize will be split evenly. It may take several days to tally the final scores. The winner will be notified and results will be posted on this website.
What does it cost?
- There is a small entrance fee of $20 per person! This fee is paid at least 24 hours before the beginning of the race. However, there are several points throughout the race where you will have a choice between 2 tasks. You may choose either one, but the faster or easier one may require you to spend a small amount of money on something.
What can I win?
- You can win up to $1000! The prize is based on how many participants there are in any given race. We must have a minimum of 200 participants at least 1 month in advance in order to host an event. If we have less than 200 participants, we may still decide to host the event, but the prize of $1000 will be adjusted downward accordingly. If the prize is less than $1000, it will be announced at or before the start of the race. This excludes any and all charity events, which have no cash prize.
When and where will the next race be held?
- Click on upcoming events to find out. If you want The Great Scavenger Race to come to your city please contact us and let us know.
Can I play with a friend as a team?
- Yes. You may play solo, or as a team. Teams may be as large as 5 people. You should know that there are places in the race where teams are at an advantage over solo players, and other places where teams are at a disadvantage. It really depends on your preference. At money spending opportunities during the game, all team members are required to pay if you choose that option.
